Why it matters

Why golf equipment insurance matters

  • A full set of clubs and a bag can represent a significant investment worth protecting.
  • Home contents cover rarely helps once your clubs leave home for the course or a trip.
  • Clubs are exposed to theft from cars, clubhouses and course parking areas.
  • Accidental damage to a shaft or head can be costly to repair or replace.
  • Cover can follow you on golfing trips, including travel to courses away from home.

FAQ

Golf equipment insurance questions

Are my clubs covered while travelling to a golf trip?
All-risk golf cover usually follows your equipment away from home, including on trips, though cover outside South Africa may have limits. If you travel to play, check the geographic cover and conditions, such as how gear is handled in transit. Compare policies on travel cover if you golf abroad.
Does it cover damage during play?
Accidental damage while playing, such as a bent shaft or cracked clubhead, is typically covered, subject to an excess. Normal wear and gradual deterioration are excluded. Since damage can happen on any round, check the excess and what counts as accidental when you compare cover.
Can I insure my golf cart or trolley too?
Bags, trolleys, rangefinders and similar accessories can usually be added to the cover. Motorised carts may need separate arrangements depending on value and use. List your accessories and their worth when comparing, so the whole set-up is properly covered rather than just the clubs.
Is this different from cover on my home policy?
Home contents cover mainly protects items at home and often caps sports equipment, leaving your clubs exposed on the course and on trips. All-risk golf cover follows the gear wherever you play. If you golf regularly, comparing dedicated cover is usually worthwhile for peace of mind.
